You will need a copy of the Adobe Acrobat reader to view or print these scores. You can download a copy of the Acrobat reader for free from the Adobe website. The stave lines and note beams can look rather uneven when these files are viewed onscreen, but they appear correctly on a printed copy.
Hummel, Variations, op. 14
This charming composition by Johann Nepumuk Hummel (1778 - 1837) deserves to be included in the composer's 'complete flute and piano works', along with the three sonatas and the Grand Rondeau Brillant. The theme (taken from the opera Une Folie (1802) by Etienne Méhul) was used by other composers as the basis for variations, including Louis Spohr in his variations for harp opus 36.
The Hummel score presented here was assembled from the separate flute and piano parts of the original publication issued by Pleyel. A copy of a later edition is available from the
International Music Score Library Project website.

Kalkbrenner, Notturno, op. 86
Friedrich Kalkbrenner (1785 - 1849) was a hugely successful pianist, teacher and composer who worked in London between 1814 and 1823. The Notturno op. 86 dates from this period. It is dedicated to Charles Nicholson, the leading English flute player of the time.
