There are a number of excellent websites that provide information about the flute and flute playing in the 19th century.
These include:

Terry McGee's web site reproduces a letter written by John Pask in 1843 to The Musical World on the subject of Theobald Boehm's 1832 ring-key conical flute design. In his letter, Pask refers to Frisch's giving up the Boehm flute, something also mentioned in Rockstro's historical notice of Frisch. It is not improbable that Pask's letter was Rocksto's source. It is characteristic that where Pask calls the instrument in question the 'genuine Boehm flute, made by Buffet in Paris', Rockstro (who was strongly opposed to Boehm) has 'a flute made on the new system, by Buffet of Paris'.
